Cannot Compile and Install Library ARGTABLE2 {Solved}

Postby pz1 » Thu May 24, 2012 3:37 pm

I have installed IPKG following the description on the synology wiki. I was able to install a number of additional packages with it. For one of my projects I need the argtable2 library. Unfortunately there is not (yet?) a package for that. I hope you don't mind that I make this post in the IPKG room. (moderator: feel free to move it)

I tried in vain to compile and install library argtable2 (http://argtable.sourceforge.net/) version 2.13 on my DS212+.
I unpacked the archive into /volume1/public/argtable2-13.
Next I tried to install according to the instrctions of the README, which says:
---------------------------------
The basic compile and install procedure for unix systems is:

$ cd argtable2-x
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make check (optional)
$ sudo make install
$ make clean

Remember to update your system's LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include the location of the dynamic library (normally /usr/local/lib/).
-------------------------------
At the second command it stops.

DS212> ./configure
-ash: ./configure: not found

I am not at all knowledgeable with linux, so I have no clue what to do next. The configure file looks like script. I made a listing of the directory contents below.

Code: Select all
/volume1/public/argtable2-13

Solved the problem. I did a stupid thing: Extracted the archive with Winzip from within Windows Explorer view of the Synology directory :oops: Doing it properly with tar in a telnet session gave the proper results.

I did use make install instead of sudo make install

Would still be nice if a more knowledgeable person could make it into IPKG
