Home alarm/automation system

Postby syncmaster » Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:59 pm

Ok, DSM has surveillance station for web-cams and detecting motion, but I would like any ideas for implementing the following:

- Doors and windows have a open/close switch that changes state (or open/closes a circuit)
- DSM, preferably receives input by network (TCP/IP)
- Change of state of one of the sensors, triggers an email/notification

I would also be good to control remotely switches like turning on lamps, and off, and so on...

Any ideas?

PS: Basic premise: Not too expensive... :D

Honeywell Vista 20P is a good affordable alarm...I've been looking into getting an alarm as well, and this one has a LOT of accessories you can add to it. Including cameras. Which I would assume you could make record the footage on ur NAS...but I don't own it (yet) so I can't say that with 100% assurance.

Thanks for the pointer.

I already have an alarm at my home, albeit not connected to anything. I also have two Marmitek X10 and remote control.

I don't think I can expand the current alarm to connect to my home network...

Any ideas for the X10? the usb connector seems expensive.
