Re: Unofficial DS Downgrade - *updated*

Okay.. did the downgrade myself with this.

I did the downgrade of my DS109j DSM 3.2 1955 to DMS3.1 1748.

Just edit the file /etc.default/VERSION, and modify version to be lower than 3.1 1748 with the good date. After, in http, just push the .pat with the dsm web interface...

Now I am back to DMS3.1 and Photostation 4 :D

Thanks in advance.

Can I ask why you want to go back to 3.2? Im about to setup a DS212j with DSM4 next week.

Just an update for those who want to know.

I've modded the 2166 patch to downgrade from 2197/8, However... The package center had issues.

The audio & surveillance station(s) wouldn't load. so it could either be that i didn't disable services before i took it back or something else.

I'll have another blast at it a bit later on today.

You have to unzip the FW, Extract VERSION, change it to a higher number than the current FW also move the date along accordingly, Calculate it's checksum.. modify the checksum figure to what it's been calculated and zip it all back together.

That's about it! Simples ;)

I'm having problems with the package center when moving back to 2166, I'll keep you posted on progress.

Hi Jekyll

If you have time I would like a downgrade for DS211+ DSM 4.0-2198 -> DSM 3.2-1955.
After DSM4 I can't make IPKG/BOOTSTRAP to work anymore, and edit the VERSION file does not either, since it still says :

Code: Select all
majorversion="3"
minorversion="2"
buildphase="0"
buildnumber="1922"
builddate="2011/09/04"
~

If I can't fix ipkg. I dont want the cloud station. Its, nice, but it's still missing some importen features I think.

Hmmmm had to upgrade to DSM4, since the downgrade to DSM3.2 1748 breaks the photostation.
At first it looks fine, but if I re-index the pictures, almost all folders in photostation show up emty... :shock:
