append to syno system log?

Postby sonynair » Sun Apr 15, 2012 10:05 pm

Hi,

Is it possible to append to the synosys.log?

I have some crontab jobs that I run and I want the events to appear in the sync log file so that I can see them easily in DSM4.0

As far as I can see, synosys.log is not easily readable unlike messages log.

Anyone know how I can do this?

Many thanks

Found out how to do it...

1. edit /usr/syno/synosdk/texts/enu/events and your message string template:

Code: Select all
vi /usr/syno/synosdk/texts/enu/events

[90000000]
90000001 = "My Log entry [@1] [@2]"

2. run syslogset1 to set log:

Code: Select all
synologset1 sys info 0x90000001 it worked

@1 in template will be replaced by "it"
@2 in template will be replaced by "worked"

So the DSM GUI will show "My Lg entry it worked"

USAGE : synologset1 [sys | man | conn] [info | warn | err] eventID(%X)
