I have a dsl connection which is disconnected by my isp every 24h, and though my router reconnects me (with a new ip) instantly, it's always a break for all present internet connections at that time. But all my established torrents in transmission are always "coming back" after 5, 10 somtimes 15min, so there certainly is an update between transmission and the tracker.

How long did you wait before you reboot/kill transmission? Try to give it some time and see if your torrents will reconnect...

I may have been a bit impatient :D

I'll give it 15min next time and see what happens..

Thanks again

I'm not an expert for this stuff, but I can imagine, that the "update time" is different from tracker to tracker. I use my syno exclusively for "torrenting" on one single private tracker where I experience that behavior. There may be other trackers where you "reconnect" faster or even slower, so you might give it 30min next time

Just a thought...

Good luck, and report what you will find out! :)

Well yeah. I found out that it updates along the way when I loose my internet :) I just have to wait a little..

But a new problem has now got my attention..

I think my transmission-daemon crashes a lot! Any way of dealing with this or could I maybe get it to autostart again if it crashes? :)

I don't understand why you're still using Transmission. I wrote this guide just as a workaround a few months back, when rTorrent from Optware didn't work and the builtin Synology-Torrentclient sucked badly.

Now, both the builtin Torrentclient (also rTorrent based btw) and rTorrent from Optware work flawlessly. Much faster, more stable and less problems than transmission.

But well, whatever you like. Just thought I'd mention it once more :-)

But rTorrent is just so ugly... *shudder*

Let me know when it has an interface as beautiful as Clutch (with an iPhone version too) and I'll give it a look. I'm willing to put up with Transmission's foibles until 1.3 comes out.

Okay, I don't really care about how the Webinterface looks. I ended up using rtwi with rTorrent, it's a very efficient and feature-rich interface. You can even select and prioritize files inside a torrent ;)

Maybe I'll modify an existing rtorrent-Webinterface to look nice when I find some time. I wanted to do some AJAX-Stuff anyways, and I should have some free time on my hands from september to december ;-)

Transmission 1.3 has been released: transmission-daemon rewritten from scratch to allow per-file priority & download flags. Also JSON-RPC protocol should mean future versions of Clutch will rock. As I understand it, for the time being the current Clutch interface doesn't allow access to these new features as it will have to be rewritten to take advantage of them, hopefully however the rewritten daemon will prove to be more stable.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the ipkg version once it's available...

[Edit: forgot to mention 1.3 also supports blocklists now.]

Yeah, please do give some feedback when 1.3 and a matching clutch version is available :-)

I'd be very interested how well the file-selection works with clutch and how stable and fast it is now.

I'll upgrade transmission to 1.31 this weekend. From preliminary testing, the setup procedure is much more simpler with reduced dependencies.

Since optware removes old ipk from feed with newer ipk, it is recommended for users to backup the working ipk's just in case.

That's great!
I can't wait to see, if the daemon "killed" crashes are finally gone with the rewrite (PLEASE!!!).

Now that Transmission and Clutch have merged can we expect to see Clutch included in the ipkg?

By the way, thank you very much for your continued maintenance of these packages, it is much appreciated! 8)

[PS. Any chance you could post a little message in this thread when the updated version becomes available? Cheers!]

OK, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to set this up. Normally Clutch 0.5 is part of transmission but can't find where, if at all, it has been installed by the ipkg. Is there a way to get a log of all the files installed by the ipkg command?

Edit: sorry jumped the gun, 'ipkg files transmission' is what I wanted. I'll get back to you...

Edit 2: OK, as far as I can tell, transmission.conf is deprecated (at least it is no longer installed by ipkg) therefore I assume that all settings are accessed via clutch. Clutch is installed in /opt/share/transmission/web/ so the lighttpd document root needs to be updated to take this into account. There no longer seems to be a socket used for communication between the two, if there is then I am unsure of how to set it up. When I try to access the new Clutch interface I get "Connection Failed. Could not connect to the server. You may need to reload the page to reconnect."

I'm gonna keep trying to figure it out, but if anyone knows how to set this up feel free to jump in and save me!
