Transmission spk for DS1812+

Postby Roald » Thu Mar 01, 2012 5:12 pm

Hi i just migrated from a cs407 to a DS1812+ :D.

But i cant find a Transmission spk that will install. I tried several x86 versions but no luck.

Has anyone got transmission running on the 1512+ or the 1812+.. who can give me a clue for what i'm doing wrong. Ore is the cpu to new, and there is no suitable transmission yet.

Having just got a DS1812+ I'd be interested in this too! Any luck finding anything?

Not solved for me.

My 1812+ is on the latest firmware (2219).
If I add the synocommunity repository I do see Transmission.
However during install it fails with an error message stating it is unable to install the package.

So sjacob and others, how did you manage to install Transmission via the repo and not getting the unable to install package?
What am I missing?

Thanks in advance

hey lotusje,

That's all I did really, clicked install on that repo.

It's been working pretty good too.

Are you sure you added the right link for the repository for the atom based 1812+?

the problem seems to be that the SPK Repository do not proved install files for the cedarview and
bromolow architectures, or DSM 4.0 refuse to run the x86 files. do any1 have the pc setup to make new install files for transmission?

Goot it working on my DS1812+ using the syno community repo.

before you install transmission do this:

1. create a transmission share
2. create a transmission user and give it R/W access to the above
3. create the folders for download and watch in the transmission share
4. start the install
5. when it asks for the folder locations use the full path i.e. /volume1/transmission/download

I didn't do the above steps first time and the install failed, had to run the install via ipkg to be able to uninstall it, then reran the install from the repo using the above steps and it worked fine.

Cheers

wechap's steps got me there... after modifying step 5. After many attempts I eventually tried the following which finally worked for me:

1. created a transmission share on volume1

2. created a transmission user and give it R/W access to the above. also made sure the transmission user was the owner of the transmission share (probably not necessary)

3. created the folders for download and watch in the transmission share, as follows:
/volume1/transmission/download
/volume1/transmission/watchfolder

4. start the install

5. when it asked for the folder locations I used the full path 'of the transmission share' i.e.
download folder = /volume1/transmission
watch folder = /volume1/transmission

I am having the same problem with transmission, No transmission user which makes perfect sense. Now here is the crazy thing. I cannot make a user "transmission". every time I try, i get a error that tells me "The Operation Failed, Log back in DSM and try again (246)". I have uninstalled transmission before doing this and still cannot make the user. Was thinking I need to do it via telnet and login as root but no idea how to do that. Would rather user the web interface but obviously I cannot. So what do I need to do or fix what I am doing wrong.
