subfolders permissions

Postby roman_roth » Thu Jan 17, 2008 9:52 am

Hi y'all

I know this has been discussed on this board...

I just want to say, I'm looking forward to the "subfolder-permission" update. It would be very nice to be able to create permissions for subfolders.

...or is there already a way to do so???

I'm waiting for this feature too.
But this request has been made for a long time now and as we don't have news about that for a very long time now, i begin to loose hope.

Please synology, feature as "ip cam support" is nice but sub-folder right management is far more important imho

Maybe I'm missing something here... But isn't it true that you can set up those permissions via telnet/ssh? Ok, it's not a web-interface, but you can do what you want...

Nope it doesn't work as samba seem to handle permission in a different way.. i tried but didn't succeed

About Sub-folder permissions, this function is most likely not being to be developed in 2008, we will support it, we don't know when at the current moment via the Management Menu.

With regards to using chmod to change the permissions of the server, yes this is possible....and it is the permissions are applicable in FTP or Samba.

I will eventually make a guide on how to do performed what I did...
