I agree! Was searching for a Git package a couple of weeks back. Till then I guess I need to use the ipkg method...

Update; SynoCommunity now offers a Git package. Haven't tested it yet, though.

I would also prefer official package from Synology. Also SVN, not only Git so we have choice.

I installed it.
Can't understand, how to use it.
Also, I installed "GIT", but in SynoCommunity there is "GIT Server", which is in "private beta", so I can't install it. May it is necessary?
Anybody knows how to use it?

Took a look at the GIT package form Synocommunity. I would much rather see an official release from Synology. +1

I have installed Synocommunity untested package, and it still lacks a symlink.

Also don't forget that if you wish to have automatic login with SSL you will also need to adjust sshd_config. Something that's left out from the Synocom package too.
Take a look at this tutorial for more details.
Note: you can skip the ipkg/opkg steps.

Just do after everything

ln -s /usr/local/git/bin/git* /usr/bin/

Then it will work smoothly.
