Come on Synology, could you PLEASE fix the torrent issue.
The capability for downloading torrents is the reason why I bought exactly this NAS, but it does not work properly.
A new torrent client would be nice.
Why not release an official patch, installing rTorrent or other client.
I will not break my warranty, when install another client

Usenet, usenet, usenet. Ofcourse with NZB support. And PAR/RAR support, but that might be a bit too much for the CPU.

Using usenet, you no longer need to seed torrents. Reading this forum, that would be a solution for a lot of people on this forum...

Usenet + nzb support please! par/rar is something I dont really need but its frustrating that downloadstation can download almost anything except for a very commonly used protocol like Usenet.

Hello everybody...

- Scheduler: what's about a scheduling for downloads? so that you can periodicaly download/backup files from FTP server or HTTP...

- Destination folder: also the ability to directly sort the download in the right places (individual root folder or sub-folder setting) would be very apreciated.

- Simultanus connections: already mentionned, a multi source/connection management, for faster downloads

I think this few features makes the name "Download Station" more sence ;)

Access to DownloadStation

Postby triad » Mon Sep 24, 2007 2:00 pm

The original post of this topic is perfect. Really good ideas for new and usefull functions.

I'm a developer and I like to put files in the download queue over an interface (like UDP, Socket) or similary possibilities. Are there any documents for put the files over an interface to de downloadstation?

I'm with you!

usenet with Nzb support.
AND...
RSS support.

So that I can setup some filters to a RSS feed of Nzb files.
That then get automatically downloaded.

Otherwise, BT + RSS support (inc filters).

Otherwise, BT + webinterface to download service.

- Possibility to provide the referer link for http download
- Possibility to change the "User Agent" for http download

improvements

Postby sjogro » Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:37 pm

hi i would like to join this discussion by adding the following idea's as improvements;

- could the downloadmanager move to the frontpage of the synology web interface? just like filestation, audiostation and photostation?
- could the forms for adding a downloadinstruction on the "create" page be integrated with the main downloadstation page?

this would in my point of view greatly improve usability.

i also stand behind the following idea's i've read here:

- seeding (+ configuration)
- dropfolder for .torrent files
- function to automatically set maximum concurrent (torrent)downloads to deal with bandwith issues for the rest of the product's services....

also, if functions like these are being implemented, i don't see the need to continue working on de download redirector software. it would become easier and quicker to use the dropbox or login to the downloadstation configuration page.....

thanks,
great product :)

Most of the requests can be fullfilled by installing java - and running Azureus in console mode. Then AzSMRC can be used for remote control.

First of all - this requires telnet access
Then a Java Installation
At last you'll need Azureus - pick the tar.bz2 version -unpack it to a suitable location.

I've placed java in /opt/java - included the path in $PATH and executing according to Azureus in console mode

Why should installation of another client break the warranty?
