Thank you for filling in our buzz. Finally we know the answers. Yay, I now can delete the incomplete torrents without worrying about wasting the HDD space. :D

You mention DHT and seeding rules. Can we know if encryption is going to be in the upcoming improved download station or in consideration list?

Thanks!

Or, to be blunt, is there an ETR for the new download station and a list of supported models?

Because we can compromise on stay shut until, say, mid-may or end-of-may if you tell us that's a probable time for release

With regards to encryption, it's currently on the "consideration" list, however I will look into promoting it's status to "improvement" list.

With regards as to an ETR for a new download station, there is currently no set schedule, as it is still in an early phase in development. As development progresses, we will have a more accurate release time frame.

Number of downloads at the same time

Postby mpRoadRunner » Sun May 06, 2007 1:08 pm

One feature that could be useful:
- limit the number of downloads at the same time (like flash get)
the other items on the download list would wait for their turn.

I'm glad to see there has been some good discussion here. And some response from moderators.

Is there an official bug tracker/feature request list somewhere? Many open source projects set up a system where users can list bugs, request features, and view those on the list. The developers can then rank and order them.

It might alleviate some of the repeated questions posed in this forum. Maybe even just setting up a sticky/announcement thread that has a list of features in development and under consideration that gets updated once in a while.

The more transparent you are, the less we'll be likely to fuss.

Me? I can't wait to beta test some new download station firmware. As long as it isn't going to format my HD when I install it.

mpRoadRunner, you can do that by pausing the other torrents and when the ones are done, you can resume the others in line-up. That's my solution if I ever throw in more than 5 torrents in download manager.

I can access to web UI administration anywhere to check its download status. With that method above, I can clear completed items and resume the next ones. By default, I let all 10 torrents going at the same time. I know it's not efficient but at least I know it's going 24/7.

My DS has the uptime since April 19th. It's going to hit 30th day mark. It's really stable. I can imagine others have longer uptime than mine. :D

Nice initiative. I really, really need the ability to seed aswell. I'm not using my DS because of this.

Just wanted to add my vote also for DHT and encryption.
With so many ISP's now throttling bandwidth for bt, encryption is becoming increasingly important.

Rapidshare premium account

Postby Dark_angel » Thu May 17, 2007 6:13 pm

Hi I just want to ask you if you can integrate support for Rapidshare service. I'm using premium account and I can't download files to DS from rapidshare because rapidshare uses cookies to authenticate downloader. I think many people would appreciate it.

Would it be possible to have a topic on this forum to publish those two lists Franklin? That would be really interesting...

Franklin any chance you could consider sharing a roadmap.
I think a lot of people would understand that time lines would need to be a little vague and priorities and features might move around a little bit, but it would be great to see what's under development, what's under consideration and generally where you are taking the product...

It would be nice to change the maximum number of concurrent downloads for the download service at all.
Those 10 concurrent downloads (just http downloads) are a disaster for my f.... slow connection.
My connection can't get any higher than 45kbyte/s and it is all but never stable, so it also drops to 6kbyte/s. If you make a download it just goes up and down.
Up two 2 concurrent downloads are running sometimes, but even with those, or more the effekt is devastating. The overall download rate drops to 10-15kbytes/s and doesn't get higher. So know I can plan more then one download, but I have to pause all other downloads until the first is finished. :-( The other way is to wait for my downloads much longer then neccessary.

And it makes a big difference to me to wait for 700mb about 5h or to wait about 20h. Especially where I must download and upload such big files regularly for my job, and my hobby.
