Download Manager: bitTorrent? bitTrickle more like!

Postby imran.maz » Sat Mar 03, 2007 1:26 am

Hey,

I'm new to the world of synology so please be nice!

I bought a ds-106e about a week ago, to act as a deadicated downloader but the downloader's performance is worse than dial-up. I've port forwarded but still no joy.

Utorrent on my laptop tops out at 350Kb/s so there is a problem.

Could I request that the download engine be upgraded as a priority? If synology sorts this hurdle it will open them up to a very big market.

Could you leverage open source products and also ideas from Utorrent to create a reasonable downloader. adding encryption, DHT, Seeding, and anything else that could increase the speed of the downloader.

also, could anyone who is successfully downloading using this download manager post the speeds they get? and PM me about any tips too... Thanks!

And Great work synology!

I'd echo the comments of wanting many many more bit torrent features. I too am a utorrent advocate. Its web based interface is *exactly* the sort of thing Synology want to be using. It has features such a setting download ratios, seeding limits, encryption, even RSS downloader for autograbbing torrents.

Slighty OT: Im getting decent speeds (60K+) on torrents via my 106j.
