Asking such questions is like demanding for a little city car that's able to tow a 30 ton truck at a reasonable speed. :s

As already stated, it is rather very unlikely you could virtualize a x86 system onto an low power ARM cpu. Even the newest generation with x86 Atom CPU's don't support Intel VT. Not even talking about the shortage of RAM memory.

Does anyone know if its possible to install the OS onto VMware Server? The reason i want to do this is to play with the linux os (so its identical to my nas) and test application installs so i dont break my own machine.

I am currently running synology DSM 4.1 on a HP Microserver. so the ability to install php virtual box would be awesome.. My Microserver has 16gb of ecc ram which would be more than enough to run slackware and xfce.. I am just not sure about how to go about this without jacking up the DSM software
