Any chance of transforming DL station from heavy java app into thin web-UI like torrentflux or tf-b4rt (working in it's own webpage like photostation does already)? It's already possible to run tf and tf-b4rt with some hacks (second apache server, etc.) but some functions don't work (mainly due to not having all the commands available in other linux distros).

Please make a tf-b4rt package for my DS1511+!!1!

Add Serviio UPnP/DLNA server - already runs on Synology NAS just takes a lot of work to install so not suitable for end users but an installable package would be a lot easier for users to setup and install themselves without Synology have to support Serviio directly.

Dropbox. I have too many uses in mind to elaborate here unless someone asks.

It's hard to imagine that this port would be particularly difficult.

From their FAQ:

The Dropbox application runs on .... Linux operating systems. To run the Dropbox application on your computer we recommend:

Ubuntu 7.10+ and Fedora Core 9+.
We also offer the source code for the Nautilus installer. This way, you can compile and run the installer on many other versions of Linux too. We've had users report success compiling Dropbox on Debian, OpenSUSE, Arch Linux, Gentoo as well as several other distributions of Linux.

Hi there...

I'm using the "Synchronizing shared folders" option, but i'm missing a better way to schedule my synchronizations. Some folders should NOT be syncronized during the weekends, and other folders should ONLY be synchronized during weekends. That is not possible today :( Either you synchronize every day, or you have to do it manualy.

Possible to get a better schedule plan for this?

Best regards,
Svenskergarn.

Streaming Video on iphone or ipad. Current solution is to Download and run "Air Video" server from online and run to any windows or mac computer and download Airvideo app from app store. Problem is Computer with Air video server has to run all the time to stream video from computer and it will play most video format such as mkv, avi, mpeg, wmv, mp4 etc. If synology has disk station package with video server running on disk station and stream video from disk station using synology's mobile video app would save from running home computer all the time. I know it will take some cpu usage and memory but this is better option to have when streaming video to mobile device.

BETTER ENCRYPTION SETTINGS!

Couse of the lag of a real solution for encryption like Truecrypt on disks and containers it whould be perfect when you write more features to your own encryption!

-KeyfileS (not only on the disk, usb sticks and other network locations for store multiple files!)
-Auto-mounting
-Mounting Encrypted folders/disks (i.e. on USB-Sticks or via network)
-Everything WITHOUT storing the key on the DS itself, which is a big security risk.
-Encryption for the whole system
-Swap memory to reduce the possibility of key retrieval from temporary storage.

This whould push the encryption way much better than only use your system with a max of 16 chars password.

Re: Synology Packages - Wishlist - Plex Media Server

I am thinking the "Plex Media Server" would be an awesome and ideal addition to DSM:

Please provide a package for easy install.

+1 for truecrypt support

I would like to add a 'spotlight server' feature, so I can search trough an index of files located on my NAS.

My last wishlist post were rather simple changes although (apparently not simple enough has they have yet to be implemented). This time I'm going to suggest something more difficult but perhaps more lucrative.

How about some addon hardware which converts your NAS into a DVR. It doesn't need to be full blown just a place where you can schedule recording via the DSM to make them available to any media device on the network.

Now that the US has finally moved to Digital broadcasts the technology should be somewhat easier and I'm thinking this could be a great co-branding opportunity with likes of a company like Tivo.

Not sure why Playstation 3 have dragged their feet on this as they already have PlayTV (from Europe) and Torne (from Japan) perhaps they are waiting for Christmas.

Would be possible if TVheadend were an installable package, TVheadend clients already exist for a variety of systems from iPhones to XBMC. The catch is driver support for the various decoders cards required in order to receive the signal unless there are some open source drivers available they would be problematic getting going.

Lastly Synology as you pointed out rarely ever implement any of these suggestions, the app section is basically just **crickets** for a quite a while now. Third party app development seems dead in the water but it's thriving over on the other side of the fence so why the difference I cannot say.
