APC Back-UPS 1200 - Brazil

Postby ricmendes » Mon Apr 23, 2012 5:37 am

Hi,

sorry my English.
Recently i have purchased a APC Back-UPS 1200(BZ1200-BR) that i believe that is sell only in Brazil.
My problem is that i accomplished to connect to the synology DS211J using the genericups driver from "nut" but the battery charged is always 0 and the estimated time is also 0.
I now that probably everyone will say that is incompatable but i downloaded the official program for windows and in this program it shows all the information about estimated time, battery charged porcentage and so on.
For me it seems that the synology it´s not reconize the APC due to the FTDI chip.
I tried to use the apcsmart driver but since the synology only reconizes the FTDI chip it says that the UPS it no valid.

Anyone has a idea to overcome this problem?

I´m using DSM 4.0

Best Regards

Did you check this link for UPS compatibility?

http://www.networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html

When using the genericups NUT driver you may need to set the upstype value depending on which cable you are using on your Back-UPS.

Example:

[ups]
driver = genericups
port = auto
upstype = 1
DS1511+ / 3GB RAM / DSM 4.2-3211 / 5 x Western Digital Green 3TB WD30EZRS (SHR)
DX510-1 / 5 x Western Digital Green 1.5TB WD15EADS (SHR)
DX510-2 / 5 x Western Digital Red 3TB WD30EFRX (SHR)
USB-Disk-1 / Silicon Image 5744 2TB (RAID0)
USB-Disk-2 / Silicon Image 5744 2TB (RAID0)
APC Smart-UPS 1000 RM / Prolific pl2303 USB-Serial Cable
Packages: Asterisk, Audio Station, Cloud Station, Download Station, Media Server, Photo Station, Surveillance Station, Video Station

Hi Condor,

yes i did. This is how i can connect to the ups.
I am using the genericups (ver. 2.6.3) driver with the UPS type 1. I didn´t put any cable because for what i noticed the cable is a simple USB cable not the special one made by APC.
The thing is that the upstype 1 is for simple signals but i can see alot of information on the program that is to be installed with thw UPS on Windows.

Thanks for the reply.
I open a ticket with APC but until now they didn´t say anything.

Lets wait and see. If anyone has any more ideas please posted for me to try.

Best Regards

Ricardo,

If your APC Back-UPS 1200 has a built-in USB port then you should probably be using the usbhid-ups NUT driver.

Take a look at this thread:
