I made a serious effort to get my Belkin F6C900-UNV working today. I found the following line in /usr/syno/hotplug/usb.nut-hid:

Code: Select all
#  F6C900-UNV
libhidups      0x0003      0x050d   0x0900    0x0000       0x0000       0x00         0x00            0x00            0x00            0x00               0x00               0x00000000

However apparently the UPS does not id itself the way the device string expects. So I'm guessing there is more than one version of it. Belkin has ZERO information supporting it on their web site. If there is a newer firmware they don't offer it.

The relevant entry in the log was as follows:

Code: Select all
T:  Bus=08 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#=  2 Spd=1.5  MxCh= 0
D:  Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs=  1
P:  Vendor=0665 ProdID=5161 Rev= 0.02
S:  Manufacturer=Cypress Semiconductor
S:  Product=USB to Serial
S:  SerialNumber=ffffffd8ffffffb9ffffffd0ffffffa2
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=100mA
I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID  ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E:  Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS=   8 Ivl=32ms

Presumably there is no way to edit the vendor and device id's either.

Addendum:

I checked the nut compat database and apparently all of the 0665 units use blazer and not ubshid so I guess I'm screwd. If I want a UPS I will have to buy a replacement. Kinda sucks.

But, connected APC BE700G-UK (aka APC Back UPS ES8 700VA) from Amazon and is readily recognised by DS212+ with DSM 3.2 in the DSM control panel.

I recently connected this very same UPS (APC Back-UPS ES8 700VA / BE700G-UK) to my DS411j with DSM 4.0.2228 with the same result: Connected, recognised and works just fine.

I have on of the APC 650 models, not sure which (nice 90's style beige casing :] )

It has done its job very well, possibly saved disks / wasted time on a number of occasions , integration with DSM was flawless.

If any one is interested i have a larger UPS that i am willing to sell its a Belkin Regulator Pro Network UPS 1400va , maybe a bit over kill for one NAS (you could probably run it for a year off it lol) but if you have more kit and are in the market .. , pm if interested

Do you mean a ES model, or a CS model?
A USB port is needed for communication between UPS and DS.

According to specifications: http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=29
The APC Back-UPS 350 (BE350G, ES product line) does not have a USB port. All other ES models, starting from the BE450 do have a USB port. The APC Back-UPS 350 (BK350, CS product line) does have a USB port.
The CS line has IEC AC connectors, the ES line uses normal household AC connectors (probably more convenient).
More: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=33201&p=131973&hilit=ups+350#p131973

About compatibility: I think all ES models (except for the 350) will work OK. Mine (APC BE700G-GR Back UPS ES 700) does, for almost two years.
DS412+. 1x WD20EFRX + 3x HD204UI, SHR (RAID5). DSM 4.2-3211.
DS210j. 2x HD203WI, RAID1. DSM 4.2-3211.
Router Netgear WNDR3700. Switch TP-Link TL-SG1008D. AcRyan Mini v1. UPS APC BE700G-GR. Ipcam Edimax IC-3010.

Looking to use an APC BackUPS XS1000 with my DS412+. Synology lists this as being compatible.

Is everyone connecting the UPS directly to the DS via USB or has anyone been able to get it to work over LAN? I'm running apcupsd on ubuntu configured to provide UPS status over the LAN to the DS but the DS can't seem to connect (not a firewall issue). The DS Power/UPS settings only allow configuration of an IP address. What port is it connecting to? Is this supporting master/slave or NIS or something else (I believe the newer apcupsd supports NIS)? Do I also need to install apcupsd on the DS? Would prefer to have the DS listen for UPS status over the LAN if at all possible. Thx!

UPDATE:
So it looks like the DS supports NUT. Switched my computer to run NUT instead of apcupsd but still no success running the computer as master and DS as slave. Plugged the UPS into the DS and switched the config so that it is master and the computer is slave and now everything is working great. Had to dig around in the NUT config files on the DS to determine apropriate user and password to set up the client. Would have been extremely helpful if Synology had included this in their documentation or allowed for it to be configurable through DSM.

APC Back-UPS 650

Works perfectly with both the Synology DS212j and theDS413j.

Connects via USB. When the APC loses power, the Synology boxes shut down gracefully, then the UPS turns off as well. When power is restored, the Synology boxes come back up.

Functions perfectly, has a big battery, and only $78.85 on Amazon.
