This is a very interesting idea which I have been hoping would arrive et voila. Does anybody know what USB DTV tuners are going to be compatible with this in the UK?

thanks

It looks like only 1 that works on all models at the moment. The UPMOST DVB192A HD. If that is the one in the link below, it should be fine in the UK.

That's pretty pathetic. The TVHeadend people says linux supports a lot of different ones, so did synology remove a lot of drivers? ( http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_USB_Devices)

Also, how does it help us to know the name of a CHIP you can't find products that way.

I agree wholeheartedly about it being pathetic! There's LOADS of supported tuners on that list!!

That list you linked to helps as you can search it for the right chip. You still won't know if it will work until you try it though.

I am starting to feel that Synology are trying to cram so much into this beta that they are overwhelmed by the sheer scope of it all. Instead of bugfixing what they had, then introducing new features in step-by-step controlled way, they've just leapt in and are now realising, just how much they've taken on.

Hence the Deafening Silence....

Hi SusiBiker,

Video Station is currently available on DSM 4.1 Beta, we're currently testing more DVB-T dongles for the official release.
http://blog.synology.com/blog/?p=1267
We haven't got the final list of tuners yet, but some popular ones have been mentioned in the comments of the blog.
We will be working on other standards in the future (DVB-C...), but for DSM 4.1 we'll stick to DVB-T.

Thanks for posting Jeremie. Very much appreciated!
We were all beginning to think you guys had dropped off the face of the planet.

May I politely request that "you guys" from Synology post updates on here a little more often?
I have to admit, my post was a bit of "bait" in the hope that someone would reply, and for that, I apologise.
The trouble is that a lot of people have put a lot of effort into testing and stressing this beta, and there has been scant information by way of progress reports, hotfixes, or updates.
I think I speak for more than a few people in that we feel a bit abandoned.
Most of us realised what beta-testing means, but there is usually some dialogue between testers and developer.

Very best wishes, and thanks again for posting. It really means that much to us!

Thanks for the info.

Just ordered one off eBay.co.uk so I could have a play around with it.
