Web server showing router page

Postby MeMeMe » Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:56 pm

[I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum earlier; I hope this is the right place!]

I'm having problems accessing my website over the net.
I can view it if I use the network's internal IP address, but if I use my ISP provided static IP, I see my router's administration page.

Here are my current settings:
I have a static IP.
In the synology configuration, I've enabled:

Enable Https Connection: Yes
Automatically redirect web management UI to a secure channel: Yes
Add Additional HTTP Port: yes (8080)
Enable Photo Station: Yes (no images yet)
Enable Web Server: yes

On my router, I've forwarded Port 80 to the internal IP address of the synology unit's port 8080. (TCP)

What else do I need to do to get this working?

Your website is working fine, probably your router (or modem?) doesn't support NAT loopback.

"Welcome To The Cybersphere
A very basic page, under construction.

All that is here so far is an index.

Index of Indie Games "

PS: you better get ride of your static IP adres in your post

Ah, so it is working. Thanks, that's great news.
Thanks Franklin for moving the thread and also confirming this in the other thread.

Sorry about the double post.

Hi!

Just one question to close this post in a professional way:

if my router doesn't support NAT loopback, is there another solution? (my router is provided by my own ISP, so there is nothing i can do)

I know this solution: i change my hosts file, like C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
but i do not like it cause i have to change that same file when going outside.

Can i do something like that on may Synology NAS [he stays in LAN all the time]?

When you are inside your LAN, i.e. hardwired or on wifi, you use the internal IP address of the DiskStation to access it. The router is out of the picture.

When you are outside your LAN, including on a smartphone/iPad with wifi turned OFF and using only 3G/4G, you use your ISP's assigned IP address, or better yet, a fully qualified domain name assigned to it.

Yes, i know this step, but it is very inconvenient. I have a svn server, which means when inside LAN I have to relocate my directory in order to commit files or whatever. Also email won't work.

I'm looking for a solution that will not force me to change my domain inside LAN, but still to make it work on the same domain, just like a router with loopback capabilities does.
