MYSQL database backup

Postby Gabiru » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:55 pm

Hi guys,

I have a database from my old pc I'd like to import to my NAS. I have the db in raw mysql format (.frm, .myd, .myi) and I'd like to be able to put them in the mysql database folder on my NAS.

How can I do this?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi

Go to Package center in the Start menu, install phpMyAdmin, run it, and then log in with root and no password (blank) first time, make a new password, and from phpMyAdmin you can install databases

AFAIK phpmyadmin doesnt give you the possibility to install DB data in raw format. You have to do that on the CLI. Refer to the MySQL commands how to this. It is not really Synology related.

I've noticed phpAdmin only allows an export to the machine the browser is running on, are there any tips anywhere on exporting it to a NAS folder (and thus automatically back it up to an external drive) I assume this means diving into the terminal and mysqling away at the prompt.
