Really slow performance on PHP

Postby projeck » Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:04 pm

Hi,

I have a DS110j. I use it to download by torrent with download station. Now, I have install a CMS and I can see it from outside my net. The problem is that the performance of any PHP code is horrible (10secs to open a single page). It also happens with myphpadmin from inside the net. I don't know if it's a problem with download station, but I'm not using it at all.

I have been searching about that, but I have no idea about it. ¿Anyone can help me?

Thanks.

Hi

Depending on what your DS is doing at the same time and which CMS system you have installed, the speed could be a DS hardware issue, meaning that the spec on the DS 110j do set some limits when running 1 or more services.

Could you elaborate what CMS your are running, and which services you have running, the internet connection (ADSL,Fiber and so on) which modem you have.
Regards Michael

First of all, thanks for your answer.

I have fiber, 100Mbs.It's not a problem from the internet connection, because I have it too within my own net, that is a Gigabit Ethernet.

The CMS is drupal, but I have the same problem just opening the phpmyadmin or any code in php with or without connection to a database, so I dismiss that is a problem with the database.

its incorrect compare something except test script in php.
So i suggest - to every one check this, and show results.
As example multiplying in for cycle at myne DS212 is 5...10 times slower from 9550cpu PC lamp. Also i check providers (mastrerhost.ru) server, and fot mostly same result, as at own PC.

I had exactly the same problem. The problem is the limited RAM amount and bandwidth, which leads to horrible MySQL performance. Only thing that helped was switching to a + (Plus) - model. (in my case instead 110j finally jumped to 109+).
Even the non-suffix model (109) did not give satisfactory results and was returned. I did benchmark my PHP scripts and MySQL queries on each model of those.

Hi,

I have a DS409slim which I have just upgraded to DSM 4.0-2219 from 3.x, prior to upgrading php/mysql websites loaded adequately, however since upgrading performance is very poor, it can take upto 40 seconds for a page to load.

I'm on the DS212J and am having major performance issues as well when using MySQL/PHP/CMS(Concrete5). It's taking 20-30 seconds to load a page, from inside the network or outside. Is this just something I have to live with or are there some modifications I could make to make the webserver usable?

Thanks.

It seem that "eaccelerator" PHP module, which had been included in DSM since version 3.0-1334 (according to the release notes) has been suppressed since version 4.0 (according to this forum post).
Strangely this is not signaled in the release notes.

Maybe this can explain the degraded PHP performance
