Postby Diting123 » Mon Sep 24, 2012 6:29 am

Since the news that xCloud cooperates with Synology released, more and more Synology users pay their attention to xCloud for Synology. However, some users are still wondering why do they need another 3-rd package for Synology since there are CloudStation, PhotoStation, AudioStation, FileStation etc. on Synology already?
In order to answer all these doubts and have xCloud understood better and deeper, I posted a table below to show the necessity of having an xCloud on your Synology:

When you say "port mapping not needed" and "you don't need the ip-address, just the username and password" it makes me wonder... is any data ever uploaded to xcloud.cc?

Thanks for your question!
In fact,xCloud adopts P2P secure tunnel other than relay, thus all the data will not dumped in our server or any other 3-rd party servers. Besides, the transmission uses encryption. Therefore, the transmission is supposed to be super secure!
Have fun with xCloud! :D

Hi,

This product is great :D

When will you fix upload of data from phone to NAS?

Can you also make the xCloud folders appear in File Station?

Thanks.

Hi

Eager to try I bought the ios app and registered an account. Then I downloaded and installed xcloud synology package and it is up and running. On my iphone I login using my account details. So far no problem.

But when I am to select my Diskstation that is showing in the device list I get "Select Device Failed!" and all I can do is to click OK and here I am stuck.

What to do?

Will you be providing a PC client for xCloud?

I just installed/tried xCloud and the Android client (only one I use) shows it is logged in and connected to my NAS. But I cannot get access the shared folders. Here's what I've tested...

1) 'Neighbor' mode did not seem to work. Under 'Manage Devices' it only shows my NAS with an external/internet address. Maybe this is a UI oversight?

2) Cannot access ANY section. They all give me this error: "Failed to access file(s). Please try again later"

One suggestion...

Allow 'Neighbor' mode to automatically detect when on the LAN and automatically switch to this mode without user interaction. I could not figure out if it does this already?

Hi, andham

Thanks for your question! We consider the issue you mentioned as the compatibility of some devices or networks in the current beta version! The full vesion of xCloud, which will fully fix the compatibility issues, is going to publish in this month (October, 2012) Please upgrade the beta version to full version of xCloud when it's available from xCloud official site: http://www.xcloud.cc

Hi Ltek,

Thanks for your question and your suggestions are greatly appreciated by all the xCloud developing team members!

The issue you mentioned is probably resulted from the instability of the beta version, which will be fixed in the soon coming full version.

In general, direct connection on LAN is the highest priority. Only when the it can not connect on LAN, xCloud would automatically connect via Internet.

The full version of xCloud with more stable features will publish within this month (October, 2010).

I'm still not clear as to what this does that the NAS doesn't. With DDNS I have a hostnane, I can access my movies, files and audio already as well as shard files. Xcloud can upload photos from my phone wirelessly but other than that all I see is this moving my data to a cloud that I don't control. Wake on LAN can be accessed via my router if I have an issue (or I can forward a port translating it to the WOL port) What am I missing?
