+1 on the above, I would have thought the jump from 128MB to 512MB of RAM would make a fair bit of difference

Ok guys, I have been using sabnzbd for about 2 years, and sickbeard for about a year and a half. I recently bought a ds1512+ and have been in love ever since. I want to move my sabnzbd and sickbeard duties to my NAS, but as most of you know, setting up these two programs to work (once you have them set to your liking) is not a simple task. What is the simplest way to get my current sabnzbd/sickbeard experience from the pc to the nas.

I currently use SB to fetch about 40 different shows, and i do not want to have to add each of those shows by hand. I also have a few scripts that run between sab and sick to help the two work together.

any help woudl be great.

Hope someone can help me. Upgraded to the 0.7.1 using the new Synocommunity source and almost everything is perfect. The one problem i am having is that when a show is finished downloading it can't run the post process script and gives an error :
Could not read configuration file: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/local/var/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg

I figure i need to change the permissions here which i tried to do but it doesn't seem to have helped. Could someone be kind enough to give a step by step guide on how to resolve?

Cheers!

Connect using ssh/telnet, and type

Code: Select all
ls -ltr /usr/local/var/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg

(and paste the result here)

It comes back with the following

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 68 Jul 14 16:16 /usr/local/var/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg -> /usr/local/sickbeard/share/SickBeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg

Then, login as root on ssh/telnet, and type :

Code: Select all
chown sickbeard:users /usr/local/var/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg

This should fix your issue

@dougshell : Well, in theory, it's python, so it's cross platform. If you meant config files, check the SynoCommunity thread, there is a post about the files needed to migrate (but from nas to nas). This might eventually work from windows to nas

I am really disappointed in Synology in general en most of the packages they offer. I know SABnzbd is a third party package. But boy is it flawed! When I first started out with Synology products, like many I was very happy with it, because it seemed to do what I always wanted from a smart box: just about anything. But now that I put (quite a lot of) my hard earned cash in, I am very disappointed to say the least. It is not really a safe environment to put your precious data on. After just one power outage I got the blinking orange led of death. It took me quite a while to recover from that. After that, SABnzbd didn't let me log in anymore. I deleted it, reinstalled, entered all the settings again ([Please control your language]?) and it worked. For a few days. After that it locked me out again. So I deleted it once more. But when I tried to reinstall, it said that port 8080 was in use and it couldn't install.

I am this close to bringing a hammer to this box of ....

Einstein, that's why this forum exists. Ask for help and provide the appropriate details so others can give you assistance. There's lots of people happy to lend a hand to those who ask and appreciate it and it's why I started this thread specifically so as to get like minds helping each other....or there's Larry.

Your problem is likely to require input from those more knowledgeable than myself, especially if getting into the guts of Linux is involved which sounds very likely. For starters though, maybe advise details of DS model, software version, SABnzb package you're using and whatever info you can provide about the exact circumstances of your problem. While I agree that there are some shortfalls with the Synology packages, I've had a good run with the hardware and no problems with the Mertymade SABnzb package but it seems more people prefer SZ's package.

Hi all, I just wanted to post real quick over here as I've read the entire thread and this seems to be a recurring problem with download speeds, etc...

Since I got my DS412+ (Dual Core Atom, 1GB DDR3) I've been trying to get Sab+CP+SB working like I had on my old HP server. I have tried 3 different version from as many repositories and I found the one from SynoCommunity works the best for SAB+. It is currently on version 0.7.1 which is just one revision behind the current version on git/home page and so far it has been the only one that uses my entire bandwidth. I am using UsenetServer with 20 connections no SSL and it always downloads at 11-12MB/s (I have 115Mbps fibre). Looking at the configuration of the different version I tried, the one setting that seems to be making a difference, at least on my equipment is the "nice" value, which is in this repo is set by default to "-n15". None of the other 2 version had this enabled and they would not go above 8MB/s, which is roughly what I was getting with the old WHS2011 based server I had (so for a moment I thought the DS412+ just couldn't handle it). Resources are pretty good while running all 3 apps plus a bunch of other packages I have installed. RAM never goes above 50% and the CPU is usually either idling, or when post-processing shows and movies, it goes to about 15%.

However I am currently having other problems which are off topic and related to CouchPotato and SB rather than SAB itself.

I hope this was useful.
