Case sensitive using an NTFS-HDD at the external connector

Postby Jericho » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:43 pm

Hi,
we use the Synology DS112 and have additional to the internal HDD an external HDD at the SATA-Connector.
When we copy data to the external HDD there is a problem with case-sensitivity. We are using Windows, but when we access to data on the external-HDD the access is case sensitive. That causes problems because we use Windows-programms which are programmed for case insensitivity. The external HDD is formatted as NTFS.

Thank you for help.

Best regards

Same problem. DSM 4.0 on Diskstation DS410. NTFS partition on an external USB disk, connected from Windows 7 or Windows 2003 using SMB (network share).

Our backup software (Shadow Protect) creates a network connection to a folder on the external drive. This fails unless the capitilisation of the directory structure is identical from month to month.

Is there anyway to correct this behavior?
