Ventilator stops in hibernation

Postby Kisch » Thu Jun 21, 2012 6:36 am

Hi all.
I have this problem. Ventilator on my DSM 210j (4.0-2228) stops in hibernation. This is happening approximately in last 3 DSM versions. In these summer days it isn´t very good. HDD´s are near 50C, when waking up. Ventilator has to start spinning on high speed to cool down. It is not really quiet. Has somebody similar problem, or solution? Thx.

My fan also stops during hibernation, which I think is good. Temperature gets a little higher but I assume that Synology knows what they're doing.

Hello,
I have same problem. My Synology in extreme situation switch down for overheating on 61°C, ambient temperature 31°C.
Today I have measured ambient temperature, it was 24,6°C, on the top of Synology was 36°C and disks were from 40°C to 56°C in direction to mainboard. When fan start to run, than disks temperature is from 39°C to 41°C.
I tried to change fan control, power sawing, silent, cool, but nothing changed.
Seems to me as a software bug.
Only solution I see, not to use hibernation till Synology fix the bug.

I have the same problem (if it's a problem !) on my DS212 : My NAS is about 55°C on hibernation mode (and the disks are 37°C) , and when It's running, the temperature is about 41 - 43°C for the NAS and 40 - 45°C for the disks. If someone knows if it's really normal...

Thanks !

I have contacted Synology support. Through telnet they have switched the fan to run all the time on full speed. In menu I could had set cool, low noise and power sawing fan operation setting.
This choice is not there after Synology intervention.
I do not have problem with overheating, but Synology station is now all time noisy.
No temperature fan control I can see.
