Shared folder with fixed size

Postby bonebreaker777 » Fri May 04, 2012 10:13 pm

Hi

I would like to ask if there is a way to make a shared folder of a fixed size, so it appears to the corresponding user as a network drive with finite size. For example small partition for female relative, with fixed size so she can manage the content. User quotas don't really have the same effect. I have a Synology DS-212j and 2 x Hitachi 3TB 5k3000 in RAID1. Thanks

Hi

If she is the only one to have access, then you could make an iSCSI LUN, and mount it on he PC.

It will have a fixed size.
Regards Michael

My next question could be a very similar in nature.
Is there a way, how to, for a Windows client, enable the option to mount automatically on start-up a Shared Folder?
For example a computer where a technologically slower person logs in every day and just to ensure that the Shared folder is already mounted on My Computer. (The account created for this purpose only got the same name as the shared folder).
Any ideas?
