DS1812+ Temperature

Postby andrewC » Mon Mar 26, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi all,

Just got this unit yesterday, and new to Synology. Was/am still using Qnap TS439Pro.

Could someone verify whether it's normal for the Themal Status to be reporting 58C/136F whilst my disks are 37,36,36,41 C ? This is idle temperature, no transfer going on.. or active services.

What is the acceptable running/idle temperature ? Or when should i panic?

Could someone also explain to me how the air flow for this unit?

Cheers,

Apologies, it's also my first post here :)

I'm seeing CPU at 58c and I have 4 * SD3000DM001's which are 37c, 39c, 38c, and 37c. And the two slightly older ST33000651AS's with an extra platter are at 42c and 41c.

Compared to my home built server I was hoping that they'd run a bit cooler but they don't. I've also replaced my fans and it's made little if any difference.

Those temperatures are fine and normal, very good actually. Hard drives and cpu's can operate at much higher temperatures without any long or short term degradation in performance it also does not increase failure rate. The Synology NAS will tell you if the HDD's or CPU temps are too high.

You are good to go, so go have fun with it. :)
