Just kicked off my first TM backup after installing the new DSM and definitely stopped getting:
Warning: Destination /Volumes/NAS does not support TM Lock Stealing
Warning: Destination /Volumes/NAS does not support Server Reply Cache

messages when it begins. Once the backup completes I will probably go ahead and put Lion on and see what happens. ;)

It would appear that my CS407e isn't supported by the new DSM 3.2. So, my laptop that now runs Lion can't be backed up.

This sucks pretty big. :(

I have a similar issue. I have a DS1511+ and a CS407e. I was hoping that Time Backup could backup certain folders to the CS407e from the DS1511+. It doesn't appear that this is supported.

Synology, please allow users to be able to use Time Backup to backup to older NASes. I can't see any reason why this can't be done.

Aside from the above, I like the new features in DSM 3.2.

I could not find our model, RS407, in that list. Now what?

I found this on Small Net Builder.

They point to this to make Lion reuse the old AFP protocol to make time machine work.

Not sure, I am waiting for beta, more than fix Lion for me.

Same here (except that I held off with installing Lion). If no 3.2 update will be available, then please a small fix to the current 3.1 firmware to keep AFP/TimeMachine working.

This is ridiculous that the '07' line up is being dropped from the support offerings. I realize this is an EOL line-up and that at some point there is only so much functionality or enhancements you can squeeze out of an NAS like DS-207+, however, Synology should at least maintain compatibility if the device mas marketed as APPLE/AFP compatible. I am not asking for all of the bells and whistles the latest beta firmware offers but, they could at least maintain a small footprint DSM for these older devices that, if anything, maintain compatibility. The AFP issue with Lion is a prime example.

Synology, please issue a small DSM update for your 07 series. At the very least issue an update for Netatalk that fixes us all old timers. I have enjoyed synology products for a long time and have nothing but great things to say about their customer support and lead times to get issues resolved. I can't believe that is all coming to an end now that we need you the most to keep our NAS's running with Lion!

The 3.2 Beta has only just been released, so there is still time for bug fixes on other products. Wait and see.
But it would definitely be better to email a technical support email directly to Synology than on the forum.

This EOL of the 07 series, is exactly what some of us went through with the DS106j last year - but thanks to a search on the forum it turned out there was a workaround (by far more technically savvy users) - I have just installed 3.2 on my 106j and it runs well.

Bear in mind this is relating to the 06 Series.

A lot of the "innovations" come from the German forums, so worth a look over there, also.

I do not have an 07, and have no idea what is capable with it re:3.2.

Beta version for DS207+??

Postby pej2000 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 2:03 am

I was hoping to install 3.2 to regain my connection after an os x Lion upgrade.

I don't see 207+ in the list. Do you think I can use 209+?

Thanks for any and all responses.

The much touted Safari support in this version is very disappointing.

First, in surveillance station Synology claims it is as full featured as the windows version. Trying to add motion detection in safari on my iMac brings up an error that I must change my system Java settings to run in 32 bit more by default. It also tells me I need to quit safari and force it to launch in 32 bit mode permanently in order to work. Even when doing so surveillance station crashes in no time without fail.

Setting everything to 32 bit is a huge compromise to make just to use this feature.

Also in Download station dragging .torrent files from your computer to the app is very flakey. It only works if you drag it to the popup window on the "Choose" button and then it still gives an error message even though it ends up working.

I know this is a beta but I get the bad feeling that 32 bit thing will still be in the final release.
