HDD failure

Postby pjopp » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:28 pm

HDD 2 on my DS210j crashed but the NAS remained working in a degraded state on HDD 1. I powered it down and installed a new 2Tb disk into slot 2 (Slot 1 is a 1TB drive) and now the server won't come back on line. It beeps and the top light is blinking orange. Any ideas on how to recover without data loss from HDD 1

Use Synology Assistant to reinstall the firmware. This is designed not to touch the data partition.

To get data from your HD us a Linux distribution (live CD).
