Photo station 5 won't start

Postby rogerwhitfield » Sat Mar 31, 2012 7:32 pm

Just upgraded to DSM 4. Photo station 5 is now not working.

I've re-installed the photostation app. When I hit the photostation button, the web browser opens and attempts to open the URL:

http://192.168.0.16/photo/login.php?sid ... &usr=admin

After 30 seconds it times out With a "server is not responding" message.

Oh this is on a DS211j.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Does it say "running" under the package center?

Have you tried Rebooting?

Is there any complicated network setup, or is this a simple home setup?

Does it load when you just go to:
http://192.168.0.16/photo/

Would I be correct to assume the management panel opens using an address that starts with:
http://192.168.0.16/

Yep I've rebooted and reinstalled the photo station package.

Nope same error when I try going to http://192.168.0.16/photo

Loads the management portal at 192.168.0.16 just fine.

I have noticed that when setting up privileges that photo station is not in the list of apps! But then again I don't know if it supposed to be in that list or not.

A simple home setup, not complicated at all.

Thanks

I have the same issue with my DS212j home network. The goofy thing is that I can access all my pictures via my Android PhotoStation app (from anywhere) but on my Windows 7 computer at home I can't access it. Just like the other poster, I can get to my diskstation fine with http://ipaddress:5000/ but if i try http://ipaddress/photo or click on the photostation icon in the DiskStation page, I get "Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data." If I try to access the photostation from a computer outside my home network I get a "service is disabled" screen. Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi,

New to the NAS world, originally purchased my 212J for use with my Sonos but quickly realized how many other features were packed into this box.

Took a couple of days (with a lot of reading though the forum) to get everything configured the way I was hoping, but was struggling with Photo Station not working from day one. Every time I would try and open Photo Station in IE or Firefox the page would timeout. Opened a Ticket, a few emails later and no help there.

A week later was finally was able to figure out what I failed setup properly.

Under the firewall setting in the control panel, LAN settings did not have the ports for Photo Station, 80 443 enabled.

Hope this helps.

After trolling through the forum unsuccessfully for a resolution to this issue, I'm bumping the thread to see if someone might have some advice for me as I'm having the same issue with Photo Station 5.

I have a 212J running DSM 4.0-2233 in a simple home configuration. Upon install and port forwarding in my router, everything was working, including Photo Station 5. More specifically, I could access Photo Station both through the DSM homepage by clicking the Photo Station icon; and also directly by URL/photo.

However, now that I have configured to use a dynamic domain name server, and installed a Certificate, I can only access Photo Station via URL/photo. I can no longer access Photo Station through the DSM homepage by clicking the Photo Station icon. After clicking, a new browser tab opens, and I get the browser error, "could not connect to MYSUBDOMAIN.ddns.net. It is important to note that when I click the Photo Station icon, the new tab attempts to open the following address:

http://MYSUBDOMAIN.ddns.net/photo/login ... MYUSERNAME

As stated above, this fails. However, when I manually change the protocol to "https," in the address bar (after the previous failure to connect) a connection is made to Photo Station. I'm hoping I'm missing something really simple. In other words, if the Photo Station icon would open to "https" instead of "http," I don't think I would have any issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I had the same problem after upgrading to DSM 4.1 Beta but was able to fix it. You might want to try the following:

1. Go to : Control Panel - Web Services - PHP Settings
2. If "Enable PHP safe_mode_exec_dir access limitation" is checked, uncheck it.
3. Try to acces photostation now
4. If it works again enable the above PHP security extension again and see if Photostation keeps working (in my case it does).

good luck !

Thanks for your response and suggestion. My PHP Settings tab is grayed out and unavailable so I'm unable to select it. I did make the upgrade to DSM 4.1, but unfortunately, the problem (described above) loading PhotoStation by clicking the icon from within the DiskStation main screen still persists.

Same Problem here.
I hope that Synology will come with an update soon.

There seem to be some problems with DSM 4,1
Another issue is that this Tutorial how to enable Disk Station is wrong.
http://www.synology.com/support/tutoria ... p?q_id=487

I just bought my first NAS and is a bit annoyed that Synology doesn´t come out with a fix or statement regarding these problems.

A lot of users are struggling with these problems.

I and others have also these problems with DSM 4,1
