Noise level DS211+ vs DS411slim ?

Hi All,

I'm looking for the most silent NAS solution.

I have the option to buy the following solutions :
- DS211+ with 2x Samsung 2 TB Ecogreen F4 5400 rpm 32 mb 3,5 inch
- DS411slim with 4x Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1 TB 5200 rpm 8 mb 2,5 inch

3,5 inch disks make more noise compared to 2,5 inch, but the DS411slim contains 4 disks so the noise level will be higher...

Does anyone have experience with both configurations concerning noise level?

I have a 411slim with 4 Scorpio Blue drives which never hibernates and I can barely hear it.

I have my 211 (non +) sitting in my living room on my glass, open shelved, entertainment center. It doesn't make any more noise than the Zotac nettop media center and way less noise than my 800ish watt stereo system.

My point is: They are pretty quiet. You might hear a dull hum of a fan in a completely silent room. Unless you live way out in the middle of no where the normal city noise is going to be louder.
