It is NOT! The WIKI is user maintained, not by Synology. It is also not an official publication of Synology. You are excused besause you are a new user, but many before you have given this same false information.


SYNOLOGY bluntly refuses to publish the type of processor on official specifications(see e.g. here) because they consider it not important for users!

The crucial point for me is that if I make a contract with my customers, that I am required to provide a faithful specification sheet of the product that I deliever to my contracts. instead of sending people to a number of websites to find out for themselves. It is just a matter of quality of services that matters for me. If you and others think that is senseless, fine. I do business as I choose.

Discussion? Didn't know this was/is a discussion. The Wiki(and other) are showed under the Synology domain. Synology also says: Official Resources. The wiki is fine for me. I have no doubts the information is correct.

pz1, I also understand your point of view. I agree on the fact that it should be no problem to communicate de type of processor from day 1. It's not a secret and it's a kind of "old fashioned" to say what customers need to know and not. Maybe the will publish it in the future. I'm sure they read this. So Synology, why not in 2011?

For me is important to know the processor of the NAS product, I have some applications that doesn't support ppc, arm or any other processors different than x86, so based on that I can decide what kind of product to choose.

As per information from various sites and not Synology officials I can't be 100% that the information is accurate, EX: "Synology DiskStation DS712+, which is powered by an Intel Atom D425 dual-core processor", as per my knowledge and Intel confirmation D425 CPU is single core, dual thread (Intel's HT).

So I'm hopping that Synology officials can disclose their type of CPU.

P.S. Why is the QNAP TS-659 Pro II faster on huge 6 GB ISO-file ... is it not using ext4? Anybody who knows the reason ... all other performance parameteres the DiskStations are OK. ANSWER: Link Aggregation ... duh!

Does anyone know that DSM3.2 or later can support hyper-thread in application acceleration? If the Linux kernal supports it I guess Synology engineers can optimize the system performance as well.
