3.2 - CalDAV not working with iPhone

Postby vp-synology » Fri Sep 09, 2011 10:58 pm

I did not tried this on 3.1 but on 3.2 could.t make CalDAV working. The iPhone is verifying and accepting the CalDAV account on DiskStation as valid, but the new calendar is not showing up on the iPhone.
I exported a "test.ics" file from iCal application on a MAC and placed it on " http://<ds_ipaddress>:5005/homes/<user_name>/DAV/CAL/" folder as per info in this forum. Could be a permission issue?
Thanks,

Just a note, CalDAV does not "serve" .ics files. if you want the whole .ics file to show up, you will be using WebDAV. CalDAV will take each entry to a calendar and create it's own .ics file.

I tried what you are doing with no luck. I think you will find one entry if all is in the right place, but the remainder if the .ics file will not show.

From what I can gather, CalDAV allows multiple users to modify calendars at once and it does so by splitting the calendar events into their own files. Something a file share will handle. The all in one approach would mean the first user would lock the whole thing and others could not modify.

I posted to find out if an .ics import is possible and so far nothing.

To manage calendar list:
1. Control panel->Web Services->WebDAV->Click View calendar list.
2. If you want to create a new calendar, click Add, name your new calendar (for example, "cal1") and specify the destination to save the calendar (for example, the "calendar" shared folder), and then click OK.

To subscribe to your calendar with your mobile device (using iOS device for example):
1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
2. Under Accounts, go to Add Account > Other, and then tap Add CalDAV Account.
3. In the fields, enter DiskStation's IP address (or domain name) and your user credentials, and then tap Next. If a message shows up, tap Continue.
4. Tap Advanced Settings, and do the following:
a. Enter 5005 (or any other port number you specified when enabling WebDAV) in the Port field.
b. Modify the URL in the Account URL field to http://DiskStation_DDNS_Hostname:WebDAV ... endar_Name (for example, "http://demo.no-ip.info:5005/calendar/cal1").
c. Tap CalDAV.
5. Tap Next to verify your account information, and then tap Save to finish account setup.
6. Return to your iOS device's Home screen, and open Calendar to manage your calendar.

It works for me if i create a new calendar for example CalX on the syno.
I will create an ics file under the subcalendar folder Calx.
What i did not manage to do is to put an existing calendar under the calendar main folder.
Is it not discovered.

Jean.

Thanks for help. Now works. I was missing the step of creating the calendar event on the iPhone or Mac calendar.
