Timebackup Local and remote

Postby Rancid » Thu Jul 12, 2012 11:50 am

Situation.

Main Site = RS3411/Timebackup Host
Main Site = DS1511/Timebackup network destination
Offsite = DS1512 = Would like to be offsite timebackup destination.

However i can only have one network time backup.

i suspect my best option is to change my setup to
Main Site = RS3411 + Esata volume = Timemachine Host and destination.
Remote site = DS1512 = Remote time backup destination.
and then have two different timebackup jobs.
one daily and maybe a offsite weekly.

I suppose i should also confirm.
is there any reason i cannot use a DX510 with a RS3411 ?
i cant see either of the units caring which format the other is.

Synology officially supports only one remote backup task in TimeBackup (although this is not mentionned in the release notes).
If you're at ease with Unix commands, there is a workaround available to create another network task, but it is not supported by Synology and might stop working in case of DSM or TimeBackup upgrade.
See viewtopic.php?f=163&t=43291 for more information.
Hope this helps.
