Greetings maartend,

I assume this problem might've caused by load-balancing network as the accessed IP will change frequently. The DSM isn't permitted to use the same account with multiple accessed IP addresses such that you would've observe the error message of "not authorized to use this service".

For the resolution to resolve this problem, please enable ignore IP checking within Option >> Session Security >> Enhance Browser Compatibility by Skipping IP Checking.

Please be noted the option here may lower the security level.

Hope this helps.

Can't add torrents to Download Station since v1337

Postby EvilFranky » Mon Oct 04, 2010 12:39 pm

Hi Guys,

Having a strange issue since upgrading to v1337 from the 3.0 Beta, the only problem I have noticed so far...

I login in to the web interface using the 'admin' user account, but when I try and add a torrent to the download manager I get an error message stating:-

'The content of 1 file(s) is invalid. You are not authorized to use this service.' At first I thought that the torrent I downloaded was corrupt but I have since tried a number from different web sites and I get the same issue.

I'm admin so should not have any issues using anything on the device and the thing was working fine on the beta 3.0 firmware.

Has anyone else experienced this annoying problem and knows how to fix it?

Any help would be much appreciated :D

It WORKS!

Superb! :D

Thank you very much for the help. It makes sense as I was using the DSM from a works PC.

Is this a feature that has only been implemented in the final release of DSM 3.0 but not the Beta version?

Thanks again! :D

I'm having exactly the same problem upgraded today to dsm 3.0-1354 using model 1010 because I thought that this patch might have resolved the problem. Not it didnt !!

IP blocking is switched off. Cannot connect using public (fixed) ip address.

this is pretty crucial functionality for a product of this type and cost and so it should work....

Has anyone managed to resolve this problem?

Synology - are you aware of this problem - are you going to fix it??

I am having the same problem. If I log in using my internal IP - no problem. If I log in using my DDNS service (homedns.org) then I get the an error message: " You are not authorized to use this service" I am running Synology DSM 3.0 and have a DS 209 NAS.

What browser do you use to login through your DNS?

Have you "autoblock IP" enabled? Please check if your external IP is registered in the autoblock list.

Hi Folks

Was there any resolution to this issue? :? I have this problem on DSM v3.0-1354 after I upgraded my DS210+ from v2.x.

I see the same 'You're not authorised to use this service' error when connecting using my DDNS hostname but everything works when connecting using my public IP address. I cleared the firmware before upgrading and formatted the drives after the upgrade. There are no IPs in the block list and have tested without any firewall rules.

Hi all,
I had the same problem after upgrading to 3.0-1354 and I related it to the upgrade. I have a fixed (external) IP address and could authenticate only when connecting internally. Using the external address I could access the server but not authenticate -what is required for restricted folder access.
But thanks to HarryPotter, I found the solution in the IP-blocklist, which contained my own external address! So I removed it and all is fine again. Probably I have misspelled too many passwords when I created and tested some new accounts ;-)
cheers, Michael

Greetings all,

I upgraded today (Jan 13 2011) to DSM 3.0.1354 and have the same issues. I have a DS508, and am using IE 8. DDNS hosting is provided by No-ip.com. When I log in using the IP address, everything works fine. When I log in using the DDNS name, I get the "you are not authorized to use this service". I did as suggested and disabled the IP checking. Then I get the "you have signed in from another computer - please log in again" message.

Filestation works fine, using the DDNS alias or the IP address.

Any solutions to this one yet?
