Check the md5sum of your downloaded file: http://www.synology-forum.de/showpost.h ... stcount=34

Linux: md5sum <file>
Windows: Google for windows md5 and you'll find some GUI applications for md5 generation.
Mac: Same as Windows

I'm wanting to update a DS408 with DSM 2.3-1157 and a DS209j with DSM 2.3-1141.

Both are running two HDDs in Basic operation.

Before I go and b0rk both of these could I get a quick confirmation that everything is fixed and it's safe to go ahead and update to DSM 3.0-1337?

TIA

My failed DS408 is working again after upgrading from 1334 to 1337. I had to boot with no drives and then "hot plug" them before running the installation through the Synology Assistant.

The only thing that doesn't appear to work for me now is the scheduled startup / shutdown.

Well, no one can say that you will not get any problems during install. So you just have to try. Make sure you have a backup and the .dss files for both units. Just in case :)

"Suck it and see" I think that's called :)

One DS has over 1Tb of info which, while it'd be a PITA to lose, isn't all that important, the other has only 500Gb so I'll back that up later.

I presume the .dss files are obtained by going into "Backup" > "Config backup"?

Fingers crossed!

DS209j - Done: painless update with zero complications (still wish I got a 209 though :()

DS408 - Holding off for now. I'm chasing a WebCalendar issue on the DS and I want that resolved before I balls everything up.

Thanks for your words of encouragement :)
