External backup failed

Postby ctn » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:45 am

I'm using the 211j.

Been backing up to an external USB drive. It was working fine since I installed it but today, I kept getting the message that the backup failed. It says to refer to the Backup log but the log merely states the backup failed.

How do I find out why the backup has suddenly failed?

The system states that the USB drive is working fine.

Thanks.

Without more info, we need to guess... diskspace on USB? Files in use? ...

It's a 2TB USB drive - Seagate.

The disk on my 211j is not full -- only 1.45TB used.

Only music files on my 211j.

Nice info, but it does not answer the questions - diskspace free and files in use during backup ...

Used 1.5Tb out of total 1.8TB. So should have .3TB free space.

Wasnt using any files during backup. Wasnt streaming music.

OK, 3 things I usually do in such cases:

Delete the backup job and recreate it

If that does not do the trick, delete about 500 GB from the USB to see if that resolves it

If still failures, reformat the USB, provided I have all data of course
