Backup and Compression

Postby Leonmeijer » Wed May 30, 2012 8:28 pm

Hello,

I'm quite new to Synology but I'm thinking about buying a second DS411 NAS for off-site backup. But till then I'll have to use the local backup function but I can't find any options for compression and or encryption locally.

What I want is the files backed up in a compressed "archive" with maximum compression and encrypted with a password, how am I gonna do that or am I not able to?

The compression is especially for the local backup (to external HDD's).

No this is not possible. Synology backups are always 1:1 copies.

Oke I understand, then hereby I drop a suggestion:

Have backups maximum compressed.

Will suggestions be forwarded to synology? It's a must for me, who wants a 1:1 backup? :P
