If you are going to sell the disk with the DS, you are very late in thinking about your data :)

If you are in such a hurry, start copying it to a PC or other NAS ASAP.

If you would have USB disk, connect it to the NAS, that would be faster.

i am not selling the disk, i just want to keep the data.
and i dont have any other disk space to back up.

if i take out the hard drive and sell the nas, the data on the hard drive would be unreadable...

In that case, still very late to think about thzt, your only otion is to hook it up to a Linux machne to retrieve the data. That, ot ask a friend or so to borrow a USB disk.
Guess you are running out of time ....

I'm in a similar situation as OP: I have a drive that used to be in my DS210j, but now I need to access the data on it without the DiskStation. Linux sees 3 partitions with ext3, and the big one as 'RAW'. I should mention that there was a single volume on this HDD, no RAID, JBOD or SHR.

So, how do I read contents of this disk?
