Streaming over internet

I have airplayer on my ipad which works fine when at home, is it possible to stream video files over the internet to my ipad from my synology box at home (for example, synology box is at home and i am in work)

I think you can via the DS file app, but it must be in MP4 format.

I suppose you can activate the VPN server of your NAS and connect with the VPN client in your iPad to it from remote to "appear" as a local client to the NAS
