24-bit FLAC?

I own a DS410 and DS411+ and I can stream 16-bit FLAC files, but the 24-bit FLAC files sound like hash. I am playing them through a Sony BDP-S580 blu-ray player.

Has anyone had success in playing 24 bit FLAC files?

I own a DS212+ and a Samsung TV (UE40D7000) and I am having exactly the same problem. I guess it is probably the TV fault, but I also would like feedback from other users.

I had exactly the same problem when I played FLAC encoded 24 bit music files from my 212j to my Sony TV (KDL-37EX503). I ripped the CD again but configured dbpoweramp so that it wouldn't recognise HDCD. This worked to the extent that I can now play the music, but the volume drops slighly every so often.

I'm not sure if it is a problem of the decoding that the 212j is doing to stream to the TV as the TV will only play LPCM (.wav) files.

The volume drop is only intermittent and slight, but still a bit annoying!

I assume you are all using a 24 bit source? If not what is the point of ripping to a 24 bit FLAC file in any case? Especially if it causes problems with playback!

Yes, for example the "Society of Sound" shop of Bowers & Wilkins sometimes only has a 24-bit FLAC version of their musics...
