2 Questions on the D. Replicator LATEST folder

I recently bought a DS212j and created two folders in my new new synology server to backup the 2 drives on my computer.

Then I setup Data Replicator, and that creates 2 folders on the server, one with a snapshot date and one called LATEST.

2 questions:

1. Should I just remove the two large folders I created before setup of Data Replicator? (Seems
redundant).

2. Can I use the LATEST folder as the parent folder for indexing for Media Server indexing?
