Works perfectly. I reinstalled the DS1010 from scratch and IPKG and all packages work without an issue.

D410 and D510 are 100% compatible (only 1 core in D410 / 2 cores in D510)

Hi!
Since DSM3.0 my NAS won't reboot anymore, shutdown process hangs, it is unable to unmount volume1.
I received the following suggestion from Synology:
Hi Szabados,

Thank you for the feedback.

The old 3rd-party may not be compatible with DSM3.0 as they are complied by the old toolchain. Please temporarily remove the 3rd-party software to solve it. The ipkg team should release a newer ipkg later and you could install the newer ipkg later.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Adair Hsu

Did anybody else experience such a problem? When will be there a new ipkg released? Can I upgrade ipkg by typing: "ipkg upgrade" ?

Maybe it's /opt partition that gets stuck during unmounting.
Check if the post reported below helps you:

I'm currently running DSM 3.0 on a DS710+ with ipkg.

/opt is a symbolic link to /volume1/@optware (no -bind mount)
And I have the same problem: Syno hangs while shutdown (or reboot).

I have investigated a little bit, but not yet found the cause of this problem.
The only unusual thing on my system is that /volume1 is remounted with noatime option (in order to be able to perform cached reads without waking up disks).

I know that IPKG packages have been built for earlier kernel/libc.
But up to now, I have not found major incompatibilities (except that networks statistics are wrong: nload/iftop are not reporting correctly network activity any more)

Edit:
A working solution for reboot problems has been provided here http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=28416

Looking for packages, especially the MONO package. Since it's x86 architecture, I guess it can't be a problem to create it.
But, I'm not a linux guru, and it's my first nas, so I have no clue how to do this myself.
Any Idea someone?

I'm terribly confused here: what is the draw of Mono? Why is it so important? What is the benefit? As a server or browser? And why does it seem to correlate to new users?

I just don't get it.

IPKG (NSLU2) buildbot is out for few weeks.
Feeds are available but not updated since february.
NSLU2 people are working on it.

Feed for 1010+ is located at:

Its a framework for building and running programs written in C# and VB (primarily). Lots of programs are using it, and it can be used to serve dynamic web pages, like php. See http://www.mono-project.com

I just finished writing a guide for compiling from source, I have tried it with my DS211 (ARM based), but it should work just as well (perhaps without any changes) on the DS1010. Link to instructions: http://blog.hexad.dk/2012/03/mono-on-synology-nas-ds-211.html
