Can't publish/subscribe to a calendar

Postby drbpv896 » Sun Jan 13, 2013 11:01 pm

Goal: Publish a local calendar from Apple iCal to Diskstation, subscribe from another mac and an iOS device

Running: DSM 4.1-2668, iOS 6.2, MacOS 10.8.2
(Note: all tests on local network, so network access not an issue)

I went through the setup steps to turn on WebDAV and CalDAV on the DSM. I then published a (local) calendar from a Mac running iCal to the DSM. There is no visible indicator of success, but when I look at the .ics file from the Diskstation, it is about 3.5MB, which seems like a plausible size to me. Is there any other way to test if the publish step worked?

When I try to subscribe to the calendar feed either from Mac/iCal or iPad/iOS, the subscribe step works, and a calendar is identified, but no events are loaded.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This may be a clue, or may be a red herring.

I noticed that Apple has a feature in iCal to email someone the url to a published calendar. When I selected that, it generated the url:
https://DSIP:5006/homes/USR/home/dougcal/dougcal.ics

If I try to subscribe to this feed with precisely this url on another Mac, it fails and iCal throws the following error message:

The server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

If I subscribe to:
https://DSIP:5006/homes/USR/home/dougcal (i.e., I don't specify the .ics file, only the shared folder name)
...the subscription succeeds, but no events are visible.

Thanks for your help!
