Very slow FTP upload speed

I have done some testing with the upload speed of my ds211j via FTP. It turns out that the upload speed is very slow when I am upload to the Internet or downloading from the Internet via FTP.

At home on my local network the speed is fine. But when the FTP traffic has to transit the WAN then the speed stuck on 1,5MB/sec. When I leave my pc on and run a FTP server on it then the speed is good. I have a 50/50Mbs connection to the Internet and speedtests conforms that my connection is ok.

Anyone with the same issues or a solution for this problem?

I have no limits configured for FTP speed.

What is the download speed of the Synology using http?
Perhaps you can log in and use the wget program to retrieve some bigfile to test.

Likewise, you can use ftp on the synology to test a download or an upload.

Well, no matter what I do or which protocol I use to transfer files from the Synology it is going slow and it stops at 12Mbps.

If I do a little test and transfer a file from my PC to a external FTP server is going at 47Mbps. When I do the same from my Synology to the FTP server it stucks at 12Mbps.

Iam experiencing the same issues with a DS410J. FTP download for users are limited too 1.5MB/sec even though iam on a 90/90 fiber connection and theres no problem utilizing the speed on other ftp services on my network.

I have not observered any problems regarding cpu utilization or memory utilization when users are connected to the synology FTP.

Seems like a hidden switch that is enabled by synology. Anybody found a solution?

The same experience here with a Syno 211 running the latest DSM.
Tried everything, FTP, VPN, nothing works.

It's the reason why me, my father in law, my parents and my brother are not buying one yet. We want to share and backup each others family pics and vids, but with an upload of 1mbps it's a no go.

Is there any way this could be escalated to an important issue?

I have the same problem on a DS212j. FTP file transfers are capped at 1.5MB/s on a 22/5 line.

I have just installed a RS212 with the latest DSM. (4.2-3211)

I have exactly the same problem with slow upload on that, but it seems as the problem occurs when uploading from a Win XP client, an d not when uploading from a Win 7 client.

Before I had a FileZilla FTP server, and on that there was no problems.
