Fails to remove LUN

Postby cuhaos » Mon Oct 31, 2011 10:37 pm

I attempted to remove a LUN from my DS1511+ and status is set to "Removing" for two days. I think it's safe to say it's not going to finish.

How can I clear this out?

I was able to remove the LUN after doing a reboot.

It looks like there is a bug in DSM 3.2-1944 at least. I can't tell when it started since the NAS is only about a month old. I have the same problem with a DS1511+. I created 4 LUNs to use with vSphere 5 and I deleted them to add a new larger LUN. All four are stuck at Removing(Waiting...) and have been for several hours. All other NAS functions work fine.

I'm hesitant to reboot since last time I did it was rebooting for a few days. I had to hard power cycle it which caused a RAID rebuild lasting for 3 days.

Anyone know if there is a Telnet way to force the LUNs to die?

OK, so I decided to reboot it on the hopes it would do so quickly andc allow LUN deletion. After a few minutes the web interface stopped saying restarting and is no longer accessible. SMB/CIFS access is no longer possible.

It looks like some services are still running because I got an email alert from the backup to an external eSATA drive overnight, but the NAS is for all intents and purposes bricked until I can force a reboot.

Last time it was like this for 3 days before forcing a reboot and a several day RAID parity check/rebuild.

Any way to force it to gracefully die remotely?
