Which Ports to forward for a simple set up?

Postby Davier » Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:28 am

Hi,

I've managed to set up my DS112j and Netgear DGN2200 router so that I have remote access and am now trying to tighten down my security.

For the following uses, which ports do I need forwarded?

1. Access to DSM
2. Allow non-DSM Users to download files via the "Share file links" facility
The only DSM packages that I have running are Syslog Server and Antivirus Essential

I know that I need Ports 5000 and 5001. Is that it?

Many thanks

Yes, port 5000 or 5001 is it for that.
Note that the port displayed in 'share file links' dialog is the same that you're logged in with, but either will work.
DS111 (DSM 4.2) and DS109 (DSM 4.2), both connected to gigabit ethernet and wireless lan.
