24-port 10/100Mbps Web-Based Smart Switch - TE100-S24WS

Hi Synology forum.

Seems Synology makes quality product, with nice looking FAQs and nice, invitingly, forums.

The question, I hope people of this forum can help me with, is maybe real basic knowledge in network administration, but I want to start learning about heavy networking administration for multiple users.

The small business I'm trying to help in better their usage of technology, by buying a DS212+, has already installed, for networking and internet, a Web-Based Smart Switch:
The TrendNet - 24-port 10/100Mbps Web-Based Smart Switch (TE100-S24WS)
http://www.trendnet.com/products/prodde ... tatus=view

So the BIG question is, if I connect the DS212+ to the TrendNet, will the DS then be connected to all the other outgoing connections from the TrendNet (computers (windows and macs), routers and wireless routers).

Hope someone can help . . .

EDIT: Or you could say, the question is more like: Is it that "simple" to connect a DS212+ to all the computers, routers and wireless router, by "simply" pluggin a network cable from the DS to the main (source) router (the TrendNet).
'Main source router' meaning, as mentioned earlier, that all other network hardware is connected to it.

Hi

Yes, but

If there's no Vlan configuration on the network.
The speed will not meet the expected, when it's just connecting with 100Mbit
It would be a good idea on a larger network to give the DS a fixed IP.
Regards Michael
