Re: DDNS Service still failing

Postby _Johnito_ » Mon May 07, 2012 10:05 am

Hi,

At first, i thought my post was deleted too but it seems it was just merged into the biggest (locked...) topic about this issue.

Synology clearly has no fix yet, since i unchecked the DDNS notifications in the "notification" panel and rebooted the service like asked without any success. I have a permanent IP, and i did not powered off my NAS those last days. I guess we just have to wait and ignore those mails a bit longer, too bad Synology doesnt communicate about this issue with words instead of compulsive locking though.

Ah, yes I see what they've done with your post - thats a bit sneaky!

Clearly there is no fix yet, but I agree - why not just come clean instead of blocking communication over the matter.

I used to trust Synology, I'm beginning to wonder now!

I wonder if, in offering the service, Synology under estimated the take up, and as such their systems simply aren't up to the unexpected load?

I suppose they could reduce the frequencey of the boxes calling in via a mini update, though I suspect the better option would be to bolster up the systems delivering the service, for both the current users, and potentially all the new ones who are likely to try to use it in the future.

I'll watch with interest, since we're clearly not allowed to discuss the matter :D

Cheers

Just to reinforce that this appears to be a capacity issue, I just received the following when trying to log in manually to myds.synology.com :-

"Warning: pg_connect(): Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server:FATAL:sorry, too many clients already in /volume1/web/support/adodb/drivers/adodb-postgres64.inc.php on line 662 Database connection failed"

Funnily, in the code of that page it says -

"At Synology we provide the most complete after-sale service and to give you 100% satisfying user experience."

Whoops - they're struggling !! :D

Synology DynDNS authentication failure

Postby dajappie » Mon May 07, 2012 11:25 am

Hi all,

After upgrading to DSM4-2219 I'm experiencing an even higher number of authentication errors with Synology's dynamic DNS option than before with DSM4-2198. Strange enough it's an authentication error, not a connection error, which seems to indicate that the connection itself is fine. A few minutes/retries later all is working well again. it just spams my notification mailaddress. My network connection is extremely stable so network issues on my side seem highly unlikely (i.e. have VPN open to it from another location for days without issues). Is the service on the Synology side having issues?

Cheers, Jasper

Same thing here. Extremely annoying.
It is especially frequent on weekends, so I think this is definitely a Synology issue.

Exactly... I raised a support ticket about their capacity planning as this is now kind of a joke... Posts from today, were merged into locked topic instead of here... Nevermind... AsiaPac is now enjoying the evening, so we will likely get is sorted during EMEA night...

Same progress with PostgressSQL db capacity was already visible week ago. I was trying to register my customer NAS 1512+ and had same problem on registering new user. It is definitely related to backend of Synology services

The DDNS server is temporarily out of service - Seriously

Postby rock15478 » Mon May 07, 2012 5:24 pm

The DDNS server is temporarily out of service - Seriously, please quit LOCKING the thread that is already about this. Synology - I work in IT and actually just recommended our company investing in about 25 thousand dollars worth of your products last week for our business. This is REALLY making me regret that decision. In fact, I am considering going back on that recommendation because SUPPORT is a huge area of concern when it comes to management at my company. The fix you offered works temporarily. Locking a thread does nothing but make other users more agitated by the problem. Fix this on your end please. Turning off email notifications temporarily until it's fixed? Great solution right? So, basically - turn off notifications because something on your end is broke? Great solution. That turns customers away immediately.

mod note: the thread was locked last monday because Synology thought the problem is solved, which obviously isnt as it happened this weekend again. ==> thread reopened :)

OK HP, comment noted, thanks for pointing that out - apologies for false accusation.

How about an update now then?

My problem seems to have calmed down since about 11:00am BST, is this just luck or has something been sorted?

Am I alone or do we seem to have temporarily (? :D ?) returned to 'normal' service?

Ez Cloud ID Invalid since the weekend

Postby synolly » Wed May 16, 2012 1:03 am

Hi

Everything was working great and cloud station was syncing fine just like drop box, then all of a sudden on the Monday just gone, all my clients I have sold synology too and have been using the cloud station happily, now report the exact same error when trying to log back back onto cloud station after it stopped syncing. It says EZCloud ID Invalid when testing connection after trying to login again.

With one client I tried resetting the easy cloud Id, even re registering the ddns and starting again and still it wouldn't work, yet all was well but now clients are really peed off, like I've sold them junk...coincidence that they all went off at the same time or have synology really screwed up? Had nothing back from support yet either.

Anyone share any light on this? A fix, a reason or the sudden failure, a timescale to when it might work again?

Cheers...

I thing the servers making the link between the eCloud app and the Dikstation are down. Please can you reboot them

What is happening?

I cant register to get a new ezCloud ID. It waits forever for an ID.

When are the servers back? How can I get an ezCloud ID otherwise?

Regards
