DS109 with third party Linux Software

Postby mwalsh73 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:49 pm

I have subscribed to a free service that takes my dynamic IP address of my home router and will attach it to a domain name. If you are familiar with this, you know that you need to install a small piece of code that will send the IP information of my home network off to the service provider so that they know what IP Address to attach to the domain name. I was hoping to install this small piece of code on the DS109. After reading the forums and the 3rd Party install guide, I see no reference to the DS109 when it comes to installing third party software. Can this be done?

Why so "complicated"? Use a free service that either is supported by your router or by the Synology NAS (check the "Network Services - DDNS" menue on your NAS)

Yes, I realized this not too long after I posted the question (even before it was up on the forum). I was already signed up with dyndns, so it was an easy solution. I did not realize the DS109 had this connectivity. It is working already. Thanks!
