How to setup Http proxy for internet (ds211j)

Postby nikkgrey » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:07 pm

Hi,
I have a DS211j NAS connected to a router which is connected to WAN network.
I am getting web services using a direct connection over WAN which are of course forwarded by the router and thus are easily accessible by the NAS drive for e.g download station. Now i wish to to use services from a http proxy server rather than my direct connection. I cannot find a setting for this.
If i am not clear. I just need a proxy server setting as in Internet Explorer or any other browser.

Can´t find the option anywhere.
P.S. I have a static IP over direct connection as well over the proxy.
A little help please....

Thanks in advance....

Configure Proxy for DS

Postby jope2000 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 9:04 pm

Hi,

I just installed a DiskStation at work. Our company network requires to use a proxy to access anything outside the intranet.
I didn't find any setting to set a proxy in general. Therefore some services (e.g. dsm update, networktime sync, ...) don't work because there is no access to the server outside of our network.

Did I just miss a setting somewhere?

Thanks,
Jope2000

Could you please give an example of which kind of services you would want you NAS be able to access through proxy?

Hi,

As an example, I'd like to install and configure some packages.

However if I click on "Available" in "Package Center", the error "Connection failed, Please check your network settings." appears.

I assume because my Diskstation is trying to access the web via port 80 (which fails, because we have a web proxy server in use)

Since you have, as you have written , "a direct connection over WAN" what makes you think you need to use a proxy?
