New setup, slow file transfer 1512.+

Postby ftracy3 » Sat May 12, 2012 6:09 pm

Sorry to start a new thread as lots of others have the same problem, but everyone's config is different so I just want to ask is my problem normal and what can I do to fix it? I just installed and have My PC and Diskstation both cat 5e cabled to a Verizon Fios router that is only rated for 100mbs internet speeds. I have not configured much other than the basic installation stuff and when transferring files from the PC (it has a Gig Lan) I am only getting 11 mbs file transfer over the network using the DSM web appliation or drag and drop on the PC's network control panel display. The disk station is about 20 feet from the router, I also have a powerline adapter connected to the modem but I wouldn't think that would impact speeds between the PC and NAS through the router. If my router is only 100mbs would that throttle file transfers to 11mbs? Any suggestions will be welcome.

If your router is 100 megabits per second (100 mb/sec), it's normal to have a throughput around 11 MegaBytes per second (11 MB/sec). A byte consists of 8 bits.
